Capcom have released two new trailers for Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, ahead of its release this coming week. The first trailer celebrates the game’s upcoming launch, framing its core cast of characters, an omen set by twin Rathalos, and an ecological disaster looming. The second trailer showcases a short prologue to the game, animated by Shin-Ei Animation (Doraemon, Crayon Shinchan). It highlights the princely protagonist of the game, the bond between monster and human, and a journey just begun. Check them both out below!
Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is the third entry in the spin-off series to the Monster Hunter franchise. It puts players in the role of a Rider who are warriors, surveyors and explorers bonded to monsters that they raise from hatching.
In this entry, players will take on the role of the Prince of Azuria, bonded to one of two twin Rathalos that bear an omen of ecological and martial disaster from centuries ago. In the wake of that knowledge, the natural world and its monsters, both Azuria and the opposing nation of Vermeil slowly slalom into civil war once more.
In the midst of that war, the prince will forge a path forward to understand the underlying mysteries of the world and find a path forward. Players will befriend various monsters (known as “Monsties”) and utilise their unique means of traversal (known as “Riding Actions” to scale, swim, and more across large-scale open areas in Vermeil and Azura. Beyond that exploration, they will encounter myriad foes, undertaking turn-based battle utilising pre-emptive strikes, a rock-paper-scissors-style weakness system, and breaking parts for damage and resources.
Players who are interested in trying Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection out can do so via a demo, comprising its opening chapter. Save data and progress will carry over to the full game upon its release.
