Drinkbox Studios has announced that its upcoming metroidvania, Blighted, will release sometime this fall on Nintendo Switch and PC. The announcement was made via its official Steam news section alongside the latest Nintendo Indie World showcase.

A new short gameplay trailer was also shown, showcasing lurid psychedelic environments, frenetic scythe-based combat, and all manner of mutated foes. Check it out below!

Blighted has players taking on the role of a lone survivor seeking to avenge their lost village against the reality-warping Blight and its cause, the one known as Sorcisto. The survivor contends with the Blight, infected by its ruinous hold. In that duality, they must wander a broken land, slaughtering its most powerful inhabitants and choosing to consume their brains, deepening the hold the Blight has on them and gaining strength in the process.

As a continual fan of Drinkbox Studios’ previous games (Nobody Saves the World, Guacamelee), it’s heartening to see a release window be confirmed for this eye-catching title. If their previous efforts are anything to go by, Blighted will prove to be tremendously entertaining, at the least. Who doesn’t like a little Western horror?

Blighted is set to release sometime during this fall for Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam.
