RPGs Coming This Week, 3/22/25: Stranger and Etranger Things

Etrange and friends in hell in Etrange Overlord

Welcome to another edition of RPGs Coming This Week! After a slow few weeks, we have a pretty full lineup for our last full week of March, across several genres: RPG, adventure, visual novel, and, honestly, however we want to classify Etrange Overlord may be up for debate. But we don’t often get to discuss the likes of otome titles, Life is Strange, and Mega Man side by side, so we certainly aren’t lacking for variety this week. Are you playing any of these? Let us know!

Etrange Overlord – March 26th (PS4, PS5, Switch, Windows)

A battle screen from Etrange Overlord, featuring four characters and much action.

Etrange Overlord is the newest game from Sōhei Niikawa of Disgaea fame. He left NIS to form a new developer, SuperNiche, and partnered with independent studio Gemdrops (known for games like Crystar and Star Ocean: The Second Story R) to work on this quirky action RPG. Players take the role of Etrange Von Rosenberg, a young noblewoman who meets an untimely end and wakes up in the underworld. Combat is stage-based, with a unique lane setup more akin to a MOBA or tower defense game. Our own Paul Skevington mostly enjoyed this one, so if you like the zany antics of Disgaea but want something a little different on the gameplay front, Etrange Overlord might be for you.

Life is Strange: Reunion – March 26th (PS5, XBX, Windows)

The only thing that surprised me more than January’s seemingly out-of-the-blue reveal for Life is Strange: Reunion was that the release was less than three months away. While recent titles in the series shifted focus to new characters, Reunion returns to the leads of the original game, starring Max Caulfield and Chloe Price in what Square Enix refers to as a “once-thought-impossible return.” This new tale starts off with Max returning to Caledon University after a weekend away to find the school in flames, with Max (and players) having to use her Rewind ability to turn back time and discover what happened.

Max is surprised to see Chloe return to Caledon following the events of Life is Strange: Double Exposure, and for the first time in the series, both Max and Chloe are playable in the game same, showing multiple perspectives on the game’s events. Life is Strange: Reunion is meant to serve as the finale to Max and Chloe’s tale, so we’ll see how their stories wrap up later this week.

Otome Daoshi -Fighting For Love- – March 26th (Switch)

Yuhang interacts with the panda mascot in Otome Daoshi -Fighting for Love-.

Otome Daoshi -Fighting for Love- is a colorful, martial arts-centered fantasy visual novel set in the land of Kayu, where one’s strength determines everything. To this end, a tradition known as the Tournament of Valor is once again taking place with our cheerful protagonist Shunlin going to spectate and cheer a friend on. As expected, things take a turn during the festivities when a supernatural attack occurs. Can Shunlin and a handful of tournament participants find out the truth behind the mysterious assault and keep Kayu’s citizenry safe? I’m a sucker for martial arts fantasies and vibrant visuals so I was naturally curious about Otome Daoshi -Fighting for Love- when the English localization was announced. There’s a cheerful energy to the characters and eye-catching artwork, and the premise sounds like it could make for an interesting story. We’ll see if that is indeed the case when Otome Daoshi -Fighting for Love- releases later this week for the Switch! Look for our review soon.

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection – March 27th (PS4, PS5, XB1, XBX, Switch, Windows)

How will you tip the scales in your favor?

After much speculation and patience, Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection is finally here. Combining the various versions of the three main Star Force titles, this collection also includes a bevy of new features such as autosaves, an art gallery, and the ability to manipulate the encounter rate. Chief among these additions is online multiplayer, so now you can take your deck online and duke it out with other Mega Man aficionados. While the Star Force series isn’t as close to my heart as the Mega Man Battle Network games, the card-and-grid-based combat system is still just as addictive here, even with the behind-the-back perspective change. It’s fantastic that the entire Mega Man RPG series is now widely available on modern platforms for a reasonable price. [Editor’s Note: No love for Mega Man X Command Mission, Ben?]

AI LIMIT: Eirene’s Furnace of War DLC – March 26th (PS5, Windows)

AI LIMIT: Eirene's Furnace of War DLC artwork

Almost exactly a year since AI LIMIT launched on March 27th, 2025, the anime soulslike title is getting its first DLC, Eirine’s Furnace of War. This DLC adds new gear, spells, a new trial within the Furnace Arena, and perhaps most of all, continues the story of the base game, taking players through the Northern Parish. Reviewer Dom Kim liked AI LIMIT well enough in his review, even if he hoped for a bit more out of it.
