Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has unveiled a new trailer for Stranger Than Heaven, their upcoming standalone (aka non-Like a Dragon) game. The trailer was shown at the latest Xbox Partner Preview, revealing that the game would span five historical periods. Check it out below!
Stranger Than Heaven Five Eras Reveal Trailer
The footage above showcases a tapestry of violence across five eras (1915, 1929, 1943, 1951, and 1965) in five different cities in Japan. Beyond the virtual realisation of these places in yesteryear, the trailer also showed a smattering of what players might expect beyond fighting, including minigames, tram travel, and romance.
Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has also confirmed that a full reveal of the game will be broadcast on May 6th at 4 pm PT/7 pm PT and May 7th at 8 am JST/1 am CEST.

I’m curious to see what Stranger Than Heaven brings to the lineage of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s library. With its increased scale and scope, it looks to be a dramatic step forward, anchored in its foundation for spectacular cinematic violence and storytelling. Plus, that jazz score? Toe-tapping to say the least!
Stranger Than Heaven will release for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. It will also launch on Xbox Game Pass. No release date has been confirmed at the time of writing.
