Well, it finally happened. At today’s Xbox Games Showcase, Atlus and SEGA revealed a short teaser trailer for the long-awaited and heavily rumored Persona 6. There isn’t much to go on yet, but at least one of the smaller rumors about the game’s “main color” being green seems to have panned out. (For those that don’t follow the series closely, Persona 3 prominently uses blue throughout its artwork and in-game UI, Persona 4 focuses on yellow tones, and Persona 5 is as red as can be.)

So we have gravestones, dead trees, and overall creepy vibes, all tinted green. Outside of the neon green logo itself, the color palette is decidedly more muted than expected, with all mainline Persona games since Persona 3 adopting intensely saturated colors. Could this mean that Persona 6 may skew a little darker like its Shin Megami Tensei brethren? It’s possible! Am I just tossing ideas and opinions out there because this is all we got? Absolutely. Still, it’s notable that the trailer includes a note at the beginning that what we’re seeing is in-game footage and cinematics, suggesting this really IS the look of the game.
Our collective conjecture aside, this September will be the 10th anniversary of Persona 5 in Japan, so despite the many P5 spin-offs and the updated Persona 5 Royal that have released in the intervening years, that’s a long gap between mainline titles. There isn’t much of anything concrete about Persona 6 yet, and the synopsis on the Xbox game page is going to sound familiar to any Persona fan with how general it is:
Persona 6 brings everything beloved about the series into a bold new story. The signature blend of heartfelt daily life and pulse-pounding supernatural adventure returns, wrapped around a completely fresh, standalone story and new cast of characters. Whether you’ve been with the series since the beginning or this is your very first Persona experience, you belong here.
Unleash Your Persona. Forge Unbreakable Bonds.
Awaken the power of Persona, a manifestation of your innermost self, and discover others who share this extraordinary ability. Every relationship you nurture makes you stronger. Every bond you forge becomes a weapon against the darkness lurking within.
Live a Double Life in Modern-Day Japan.
Navigate the rhythms of everyday school life and build friendships, pursue romance, and cultivate memories that matter. But beneath the surface of familiar streets and quiet neighborhoods lies something darker: strange rumors, unsettling urban legends, and occult incidents that only you and your closest allies can face.
There you go, you heard it direct from Atlus and SEGA: You belong in this graveyard. Or maybe that’s not what they meant. But it’s still nice to know this game is finally happening. If you saw the teaser live during the Xbox Games Showcase, you’ll know some of the platforms the game is coming to, but if you watch the official Atlus trailer (which is the one I included above), you’ll see that Persona 6 is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and PC via Steam. It will also be part of Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, and Xbox Play Anywhere. No word yet on a Switch 2 version, but since Atlus has been supporting Nintendo’s platforms gradually more in recent years, I expect that will happen.
We don’t know the next time we’ll have an update on Persona 6, but we will keep you updated when we learn more! In the meantime, enjoy some stills from the teaser trailer:
