The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Returns Fans to Hyrule on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026

Nintendo closed out today’s jam-packed Nintendo Direct presentation with a teaser trailer for a new remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2, set to release sometime this year.

While the trailer was light on details, a narrator explains the history of Hyrule as the camera sweeps across a detailed tapestry. The voice explains the Great Deku Tree, and how the Kokiri all live accompanied by fairies, except for one boy. The trailer then cuts to Link sleeping in his house, the Triforce of Courage faintly flashing on the back of his left hand, followed by the title card drop and a release window of 2026.

I’m sure Nintendo will share more details at a later date, but even these scant details are enough to get any Zelda fan excited. After all, it’s been 15 years since the last time Nintendo revisited this Nintendo 64 classic, with 2011’s The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D on the Nintendo 3DS. If you have a Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2, there’s never been a better time to revisit the original game on Nintendo’s Nintendo 64 – Nintendo Classics service. In the meantime, here are some initial images:
