EA, Lucasfilm Games, and developer Bit Reactor have announced that Star Wars Zero Company will release on August 27th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The announcement came via the Summer Game Fest 2026 keynote presentation, alongside a three-minute gameplay trailer showcasing its turn-based tactical combat, the galactic stakes at play, and a surprising cameo as its stinger. Check it out below!
Star Wars Zero Company Official Gameplay Trailer
Developed by former developers of the XCOM strategy series, Star Wars Zero Company puts players in the role of former Republic officer Hawks as he leads the titular Zero Company, a squad of aligned professionals ranging from a Clone Trooper, a Mandalorian, a Jedi Padawan, and others. Amidst a frenetic life, Zero Company is enlisted to hunt down Kundri Fathom, a leader of the Separatist-aligned cult known as the Infinite Coil.
Utilising Zero Company, players will alternate between a hub known as The Den and tactical mission-based gameplay across a potential 150 planets, strikingly similar in combat flow to modern XCOM titles. In The Den, they can enlist and customise both Hawks and player-created characters known as Operators from a confirmed eight species in the Star Wars universe, that of Devaronian, Neimoidian, Human, Twi’lek, Ovissian, Togruta, Weequay and Zabrak. Players will also be able to upgrade the facilities of The Den, the armour and weaponry of Zero Company’s core squad and Operators, and pick loadouts and abilities for any mission at hand.
Beyond the gameplay above, CEO and creative director Greg Foertsch and VP and GM of Lucasfilm Games Douglas Reilly have both released statements detailing their thoughts on what Star Wars Zero Company means to them, alongside its place in the Star Wars canon. Check out both statements below!
“Our team has poured everything we love about Star Wars into Zero Company,” said Greg Foertsch, CEO and Creative Director at Bit Reactor. “The bold characters, powerful storytelling, striking settings and the sense of heart beneath the battles in Star Wars has helped us create an experience that pushes the tactics genre forward by combining deep gameplay with cinematic elegance. We’ve worked hand-in-hand with Lucasfilm Games to create an authentic Star Wars story packed with unique new characters, robust character customization, a new ship, Separatist Droids and much more, all rooted in the conflict of The Clone Wars.”
“Star Wars Zero Company delivers an entirely new experience in the galaxy and for our fans,” said Douglas Reilly, VP and GM of Lucasfilm Games. “It pairs cinematic storytelling with strategic gameplay in a way that feels fresh for the franchise. Some of the most interesting stories come from new perspectives, and Zero Company explores the Clone Wars from deep within the shadows of the conflict, through a lens we haven’t seen before, while still feeling completely authentic to the world fans know.”

As someone who has a deep love for Star Wars, I’m curious to see how Star Wars Zero Company adds to the tapestry of interactive gaming experiences the franchise has had since 1982. If the above footage is any indication, fans of the franchise will have myriad decisions to make, both large and small, with the spice of a certain Skywalker set into the mix later this year.
Star Wars Zero Company will launch on August 27th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
