Nintendo has released a new overview trailer for the upcoming remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, set to release exclusively on November 5th for Nintendo Switch 2.

The five-minute trailer spotlights the beginning of protagonist Link’s story, smoothly moving through what players might expect from its lively characters, horse-mounted exploration, and stylish combat, juxtaposed against puzzle-solving in signature dungeons and the stirring songs of the ocarina. Check it out below!

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Overview Trailer

As seen above, the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time follows protagonist Link as he and his fairy companion, Navi, seek to save Hyrule from the machinations of the warrior-lord Ganondorf. It feels like a faithful remake with modern production values, including full voice acting with expanded dialogue, modern-standard visuals, and a symphonic orchestral score.

While using the ocarina, players can hum or play the notes of any relevant melody via an instrument into the microphone on the Switch 2, and it will translate to Link playing those notes on the in-game ocarina. The remake adds a new area known as the Hall of Fallen Foes that houses statues of defeated enemies where players can both learn about and rematch them in simulated fights.

Additionally, players can use Zelda Notes, a service in the Nintendo Switch 2 mobile app with compatible devices. Nintendo promises that the Zelda Notes service will provide additional experiences that will enrich the experience of playing the remake, such as a record feature, a photo feature, and more. Sometime in 2027, two new amiibo figures will also be available: Young Link and Young Zelda. Tapping these to the Nintendo Switch 2 will unlock in-game mask cosmetics for Link to wear, fashioned after Link and Zelda’s still-image faces.

Personally, I find it heartwarming that a new generation will experience arguably one of the best video games, lovingly remade for the modern age. There’s something poetic to say about both the past and future interweaving here, as it does in The Ocarina of Time, but I’ll leave that for players new and old to relive and reminisce when The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake releases this week.
