Chucklefish and developer Robotality have announced that the long-awaited Witchbrook will launch on January 28th, 2027. As previously stated, it will launch on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch 1&2, and PC via Steam. Additionally, Chucklefish has confirmed that it will also be on PlayStation 5 at release, with the support of PlayEveryWare, a development studio focused on providing ports to different gaming hardware. It will launch digitally for $24.99 (USD), with a collector’s physical edition to come out after its initial release.

The news on Witchbrook‘s release date came via the latest Nintendo Indie World Showcase, with a new trailer showcasing the seaside town of Mossport, its spell-slinging inhabitants, celestial-themed minigames, and more. Check it out below!

Witchbrook Release Date Trailer

Originally announced in 2016, Witchbrook puts players in the role of an aspiring witch enrolled in Witchbrook College, a prestigious institution dedicated to the magical arts. Across the seasons, players will work towards their graduation by enrolling and completing their studies in various magical disciplines, such as Alchemy, Tarot, and Demon Hunting.

To fund their studies, they must leverage the expertise even a student witch can provide to the townsfolk in exchange for money, material goods, and renown, similar to Kiki’s Delivery Service, where deliveries are made by flying broomstick. Beyond their studies, players can socialise with their fellow students, leading to friendship and potentially romance, with each romanceable character sporting their own unique questline and unique gift. For more on the above, customisation, and Mossport itself, check out an official synopsis below:

Master The Magical Arts

Your academic journey at Witchbrook College starts here. Attend classes and complete assignments in Alchemy, Potions, Astrology, Rituals, Demon Hunting, Tarot, (and more!) to earn those all-important merits. Hoard enough, study hard to pass your exams, and you’ll unlock more spells and edge closer to graduation.

Witchy Business

Start your very own witch business! You have to fund your studies, and coincidentally, the townsfolk of Mossport are in need of goods and services only a witch can provide. Use the skills you learn in class to craft wares, fulfil orders, and deliver them by moped (or broom, once you’ve earned your license!). Build good relationships with customers to earn business perks and bag yourself some neat rewards. Set up a stall at the Sunday market, strike deals with locals and cement your status as a certified business witch.

Make Friends and Memories

Your class covenmates can be more than just study buddies. Create lasting memories, lifelong friendships, or even find romance. Each dateable character has their own story and a heart to win (or break). Pluck up the courage to ask them on a date, pick out the perfect gift, and choose a romantic date location! The magic of Mossport is always brighter when you’re not alone.

A Living, Magical World

Mossport is a living, breathing world where the townsfolk follow their own unique schedule: tending their stores, enjoying a pint at the Swine & Spirits, or cramming for their next exam at the library. Beyond the bustling streets lie the tranquil Mossport Trails, the glittering Parasol Sands – home to the Moss Stock summer festival, and the dangers of the Thorn Woods (strictly for Journeyman-ranked witches with nerves of steel). Watch the seasons turn: as snow thaws and flowers blossom, scarves are traded for sun hats, and suddenly everyone needs a tonic for their spring allergies. Best get brewing!

Forge Your Own Identity

Dress to impress with an array of hair, clothing and accessory customisation options, because what’s the point of becoming a magical savant if you don’t look good doing it? Beyond your wardrobe lies your woodland cottage, a rustic fixer-upper with great potential! Roll up your sleeves and renovate your home and lands, creating your own herb garden or wildflower meadow. Perhaps with the right tools and know-how, you could find yourself attracting some magical critters…

Extra-Curricular Activities

There’s more to life than just exams! Join a club, attend seasonal events, identify birds, enter a cooking contest; there are so many ways to spend your free time. Taking care of your Wellbeing brings special bonuses, so take the time to enjoy the little things! Stroll through nature, chat with your friends, use your magic to fix up the town, and pet every dog you see. Your future self will thank you!

Magic and Multiplayer

Up to 4 players can join this spellbinding adventure in online co-op. Whether you’re combining forces to build up your witch business, customising your cottages, honing your spellcraft, or racing together through the park on your brooms, there’s always more fun to be had with friends.

Having kept an eye on this since its announcement, it is heart warming to see this oft-delayed life sim RPG approach its release date. Firmly in the realm that Stardew Valley helped revitalize, Witchbrook looks to be a stunning adventure packed to the witch hat brim with a nigh-endless supply of things to occupy one’s time when it releases in late January.

Witchbrook will launch on January 28th, 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch 1 & 2, and PC. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass upon its release. For more information, check out its official website!
