Steins;Gate Hollywood Drama Television Series In Development, Steins;Gate 0 Elite Also Announced

Mage Inc. has announced two significant pieces of news regarding the Steins;Gate franchise. Confirmed via an official Twitter post, the existence of an enhanced version of Steins;Gate 0, known as ‘Steins;Gate 0 Elite’, is currently under development. In the vein of Steins;Gate Elite, this iteration of Steins;Gate 0 would infuse animated cutscenes with the bulk of its visual novel experience, with Mage Inc. calling it a ‘full animated adventure’. No platforms or release date were announced for the title.

A live-action Hollywood television drama series based on Steins;Gate is also in development with Skydance Television (Altered Carbon, Dietland), announced via the website detailing the 10th Anniversary of Steins;Gate as a franchise. No further details were given.

Steins;Gate, as a series, follows self-proclaimed mad scientist Rintaro Okabe who inadvertently, alongside his friends, discovers an ability to time travel via texting, bringing the machinations of secret organizations and more upon their heads, as they struggle to understand what this discovery means for them and the world at large.

As it stands, Steins;Gate seems to be trucking along quite nicely as a franchise and deepening its cultural presence further internationally. As someone who exists within this World-Line, I’m curious to see what Hollywood could bring to a live-action adaption to the adventures of Rintaro, and I look forward to hearing more! Steins;Gate 0 is available now for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 3, and Microsoft Windows PC systems. Stay tuned to RPGFan for all news Steins;Gate!
