Princess Zelda Wields Magnesis, Bombs, and More in New Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Screenshots

When Nintendo revealed Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity a last week, it marked the first new look at the world of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild since its 2017 debut. Set during BotW‘s calamity age of 100 years prior, this new game takes Koei Tecmo’s musou gameplay from the original Hyrule Warriors and blends it with the look of Breath of the Wild. Both companies were quick to stress how closely they are working on Age of Calamity to ensure it really fits within BotW‘s canon, making it seem like a true prequel in terms of narrative, versus a simple “what if” side story we often see in these types of games.

Anyway, you probably know all this from our previous coverage. If you clicked into this story, it’s because you want to see Princess Zelda throw down with some abilities so far only used in-game by Link. Given the size of the cast in Hyrule Warriors, we are sure to see a ton of variety in combat as we learn more about the playable characters, so this is just the beginning.

Take a look at some new shots below (of both Zelda and the kingdom), with more available through our Age of Calamity game hub. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity launches for Switch on November 20th, and can be pre-ordered now.
