The good folks over at Materia Collective have partnered with talented pianist Mark Choi to bring us Journey of the Heart (A Ni no Kuni Tribute), an album consisting of songs from Level-5’s hit RPG Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. Joe Hisaishi’s music is one of the most consistently excellent parts of that game, and had a huge impact on Mr. Choi.

Here’s what he had to say about his inspiration for the album:

“The Ni No Kuni franchise is very close to my heart, as it is indelibly linked to the lives of my two children. When my daughter was first born, I spent many sleepless nights cradling her in my arms with wonder as I played through and marvelled at the Wrath of the White Witch.

It just so happened that the release of Revenant Kingdom coincided with my son’s arrival a couple of years later, so that game formed the backdrop for those particular sleepless nights!

As you might imagine, having all these experiences so inextricably intertwined left a deep and lasting impression on me, so this album is dedicated to them — and of course to my wife as well for being the most important member of our questing party.”
