NieR Re[in]carnation Launches in Japan on February 18th; Collaboration Events 2B Determined

A character traverses an old stone bridge in Nier Re[in]carnation.

Mobile RPG NieR Re[in]carnation, developed by Applibot and published by Square Enix, will arrive on Japanese smartphones in just shy of two months. Don’t let its iOS and Android trappings fool you; the beloved (and eccentric) NieR mastermind Yoko Taro himself is directing Re[in]carnation and he’s spared no expense in maintaining the franchise’s customary blend of eerie melancholy.

In addition to the launch date, Square Enix has also revealed details on the game’s first crossover event. Mobile tie-in games thrive on maintaining dedicated fan interest through ongoing strings of familiar faces, and Taro’s team has wisely brought out the big guns for the inaugural push: 2B, 9S, and A2. Each of these three characters plays a pivotal role in 2017’s breakout hit NieR: Automata, the game that really put this series on the map (though make no mistake, the original NieR is well worth playing).

Check out the crossover event’s brand new trailer below and trust in RPGFan to deliver you all sorts of NieR Re[in]carnation coverage in the days to come!
