Star Renegades Gets a Brand New, Free (!) DLC

A character in a space helmet stares dumbfounded at the camera inside a vehicle in Star Renegades.

It’s been a busy winter for the developers of Star Renegades. Massive Damage’s excellently-reviewed tactical roguelike RPG successfully made the jump from PC to Switch and Xbox One, with a PS4 version en route sometime next month. What’s more, the Steam version of the game now has some hot new content, while console owners can look forward to joining in the fun in early 2021.

They’re giving it to us gratis, but do remember: you’ll be paying for it with the blood, sweat, and pixels of multiple strategic playthroughs as you strive to save your universe.

A battle between squads in Star Renegades.

What, pray tell, does Star Renegades have in store for us now? Four new adversaries, two more behemoths, another deadly drone, and best of all, an additional planet!

• New Planet Prycon: Alternate second planet to Norosh, Prycon is far more dangerous and not for the weak-hearted. However, Prycon enemies also provide increased DNA rewards.

• New Adversary – Tempest: A fearsome enemy that can control the harsh climate of Prycon to his squad’s advantage.

• New Adversary – Shivver: A cold-hearted assassin that can shut down even the best of the Renegades.

• New Adversary – Ogre: An unstoppable force of nature, one of the toughest Adversaries that the Imperium has ever created.

• New Behemoth – Abomination: A wild Behemoth, indigenous to Prycon with a voracious appetite and infested with Mites.

• New Behemoth – Siren: This Prycon Behemoth might appear deceptively docile but she has more than a few tricks up her sleeve.

• New Drones – Frostbot: – A new addition to the Drones – beware of them in large numbers!

No strangers to entertainingly on-the-nose nomenclature, Massive Damage is calling this update “The Imperium Strike Back.” If there’s no Return of the Jedi nod in a forthcoming something-or-other, I’m going to be mildly perturbed.
