Mega Ran and GameChops Bring Final Fantasy VII-Inspired Black Materia: The Remake to Vinyl this May

Nerdcore rapper extraordinaire Mega Ran, A.K.A. Random, is working with GameChops to bring an updated version of his Final Fantasy VII-inspired hip hop album to vinyl with Black Materia: The Remake. The vinyl release will also be accompanied by a digital version.

Originally released in 2011, Black Materia is a lyrically masterful representation of the themes, characters, and narrative of the Square Enix classic, taking players on the epic journey from the Midgar slums to The Northern Cave. You can check out a trailer for the album below—plus a peek at the interior illustration by artist Daniel Hill—to get a full look at what to expect from the project.

Anyone interested in commemorating the 24th anniversary of the game’s Japanese release, or die-hard fans looking to indulge themselves in the powerful performances featured, should be sure to check out the project’s Bandcamp page for all the details.
