Go Forth and Play Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade… If You’ve Found a PS5

Cloud Strife, the beautiful heroine of Final Fantasy VII.

It was already on my mind when Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade was announced back in February. “This looks lovely, but will the PlayStation 5 be any easier to secure four months from now?” A part of me wanted to believe that, yes, the infamous chip shortage would be somewhat resolved by now and Final Fantasy fans clamoring for this gorgeous remaster and its Yuffie-focused new DLC episode would be able to line up at stores with relative ease. Alas, that is not at all the case.

So, while the purpose of this article is to bring attention to the fact that Intergrade and “Episode INTERmission” are out now for your role-playing pleasure, the spirit of the article’s a little more somber. Sure, they’re out, but fewer than half my friends and colleagues have been able to snag a PS5 yet to play them. To each of you who are in their boat, I say this: I hope the wait will prove worth it for you in the end!

As for the rest of us — we lucky few — it’s time we embark upon a return trip to Midgar… now with sharper lighting, enhanced fog features, double the framerate… and justice delivered at last to a certain memetic door.

You can count on us here at RPGFan to have plenty to say about Intergrade, from articles like this one to podcast chitchat to a formal review of the whole shebang. But for now, pray excuse me; I have a very important date with this blasted Fort Condor minigame. It’s more fun than I was expecting it to be.

And it is wrecking me.
