Random Encounter 227 – A Little Slice of the 80s and 90s

Random Encounter 227

On this episode of Random Encounter, we’re dipping our toes into some games highly inspired by the 80s and 90s!

Abe is here to talk about the surprisingly excellent Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, waxing rhapsodic about its superb story and incredible 80s soundtrack! Then, Niki dives into the earliest era of the SNES with the surprise remake of the cult-favorite hybrid side-scroller/city-builder title, Actraiser Renaissance. And finally, Jono dips into the spirit of the 90s with Kathy Rain: Director’s Cut, a remake/remaster of the 2016 indie point-and-click adventure game.

Featuring: Jono Logan, Niki Fakhoori, Abraham Kobylanski; Edited by Jono Logan

Jonathan (he/him), or Jono for short, is the host of Random Encounter and the Reviews Manager for RPGFan. While reviewing a game, he has been known to drink up to 10 cups of tea to keep focused (Earl Grey, milk, no sugar). Fun fact: Jono holds a Masters of Music Theatre degree, which is only slightly less useful than it sounds.
