Square Enix and PlatinumGames have announced that hack-and-slash RPG Babylon’s Fall will shut down on February 27th, 2023 alongside the cancellation of further major planned updates to the live service game.

In an official statement released by Square Enix, the development team confirmed the cancellation alongside a roadmap of the eventual shutdown of Babylon’s Fall. As of the time of writing, sales of the premium in-game currency and both digital and physical editions of the game have been suspended. The development team confirmed that Season 2—the current season of play—will end on November 29th and that the third and final season will begin. The development team also expressed their gratitude to their players stating that “…we plan to implement as many events and other initiatives as we can, leading up to the end of the service.”

This isn’t the first time a service has ended under Square Enix, but in this day and age of online gaming, it seems as if it will become more frequent for better or worse!
