Capcom has announced a full-scale remaster for Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective, set to release on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The announcement came by way of the February 2023 Nintendo Direct. The game follows ghostly protagonist Sissel as he seeks to uncover who he was in life and how he died. Check out its poltergeist hijinks in a promotional trailer below!

The port will boast a bevy of new features including higher graphical resolution (1080p, 60fps), gameplay rebalanced and mapped to modern controls (including touchscreen support), trophies, “new-to-console” Ghost Puzzles, and localisation support in nine total languages including Chinese (Traditional), Chinese (Simplified), and Korean. It will also contain an all-new Collection feature, which will allow players to experience the artwork and music encountered within the game alongside concept art exclusive to the game.

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective sets its sights on protagonist Sissel as he wends his way through darkened city streets as a ghost, racing against time to solve the dual mysteries of how he died and who he was in the Land of the Living. Players will accomplish this via the game’s signature mechanics, that of ‘Ghost’ and ‘Trick.’ Sissel is able to freeze time and travel to the ‘Ghost World’ where he can possess various objects in the Land of the Living as a ‘Ghost.’ Returning to the Land of the Living as a possessed object, he can ‘Trick’ other people, places, and objects and change the fates of those around him.

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective was originally released on the Nintendo DS in 2011 and on iOS in 2012. It is regarded by many as a classic of the handheld system, directed by Shu Takumi, creator and director of the much-beloved Ace Attorney franchise.
