Elden Ring Sells 20 Million Units Worldwide

Bandai Namco Entertainment and FromSoftware have announced that their critically acclaimed action RPG Elden Ring hit a milestone of 20 million units sold since its release last February! Warmly welcomed by players and critics alike, it has already received numerous awards, including Game of the Year from The Game Awards 2022 and Best Action RPG from RPGFan (that’s us!).

This sales milestone is especially impressive because Elden Ring offers no paid DLC, cosmetics, or other upgrades. In a gaming landscape often dominated by live service titles, it’s heartening to see a title break that mold and succeed. Still, my fingers are crossed we see story DLC sooner rather than later. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki hinted that players may see more Elden Ring content in the future. Here’s hoping…

Elden Ring wowed RPGFan’s Bob Richardson, who reviewed the title and awarded it a hallowed score of 99! I’m playing through the game on Xbox now and am firmly in Bob’s camp on this one! For anyone who hasn’t had the privilege of exploring the Lands Between, it’s available for PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
