Yahaha!

Nintendo of America has announced that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has broken the record to become the fastest-selling Zelda title of all time. Following its release on May 12th, the company disclosed that it has sold more than 10 million units in just three days. Breath of the Wild, on the other hand, has sold 29.8 million copies over the last six years. Pretty insane numbers, right?

Here’s the official statement from Nintendo’s press release:

Many players are returning to Hyrule with all its new mysteries and possibilities, and with the record-breaking launch of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for Nintendo Switch, we can’t wait to see what they’ll create in the game and the stories they’ll share next.

We’re grateful for all of our fans who’ve shown their passion for The Legend of Zelda over the years, and these sales numbers for the latest installment continue to show the strong momentum for both the franchise and Nintendo Switch this year.

Despite the Switch being old hardware, Nintendo continues to smash sales numbers like it did five months ago with the launch of Pokémon Scarlet & VioletPersonally, I wouldn’t be surprised if TotK outdoes that in the near future. I’ve had a blast playing over the last couple of days, and I admit that it’s currently positioned atop my GOTY list as we approach the year’s halfway point.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom debuted last week, on May 12th, and is exclusively available on the Nintendo Switch.
