In what sounds like great news for Western RPG fans, the game directors of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are joining other CD Projekt Red alums to form a new game studio, Blank. (yes, that period is part of their name)!

We don’t know much about Blank.’s plans, but its website teases the studio’s debut project: a “character-driven story from an apocalypse — with a twist or two.” Check out the upcoming game’s first piece of concept art below.

It’s tough to read too much into the scant little we know about this title, but the studio’s website makes clear that it won’t look much like a Cyberpunk or Witcher game: “We’ve had our share of creating huge, super complicated games with open worlds. That’s why we focus on simpler goals — uniqueness, emotions, quality, and refinement.”

A press release from the promising new studio doubles down on its goal of providing a distinct gaming experience. It states that Blank. is “committed to bringing beautifully crafted games and unique experiences to players, favoring novel territory rather than well-trodden ground (i.e. no clones or predictable entries).” Headquartered in Warsaw, Poland, Blank. currently has ten team members, but it’s looking to expand to almost 60 to support the development of its new project.

Blank.’s team is hardly the first group of CD Projekt alumni to leave the company and form their own studios. Just last year, CD Projekt developers departed and formed two new studios, Rebel Wolves and Dark Passenger, both of which have exciting projects in the works.
