Starfield Showcases Major Cities in Trio of Animated Trailers

A sandwich and supplies are pivotal to the mission in Starfield

Bethesda Softworks has released a short animated anthology series for their upcoming space-focused RPG Starfield. The trio of trailers offers a first glimpse of three major cities and their citizens that lie within the cluster of colonized space known as the Settled Systems.

Each trailer focuses on a different city within Starfield—New Atlantis, Akila City, Neon—showcasing the journeys of an interstellar courier turned daring elite pilot, a mechanic seeking to repair her ship amidst danger, and two street urchins seeking stability through crimes against the wealthy. Check out the trailers alongside official synopses below:

Starfield: The Settled Systems – Supra Et Ultra

In the city of New Atlantis, capital of the United Colonies, Kent, a courier pilot, aspires to live in the most desirable part of the settled systems. After joining the UC Vanguard and working his way up to the Capital’s elite, Kent quickly realizes the adventures waiting for him off-planet are what he truly longed for.

Starfield: The Settled Systems – Where Hope is Built

Vanna—an Akila City orphan of the famous Colony War—desperately wants to explore the stars and only one thing stands in her way: a broken ship. Her search for repair parts leads her throughout the city, and into some unexpected danger, as she closes in on her dream.

Starfield: The Settled Systems – The Hand that Feeds

Two Neon street rats, Ada and Harper, are partners in crime eking out a living stealing from the wealthy partygoers that come to the “pleasure city” to let loose. When Ada is forced into a moral dilemma, she quickly catches the attention of the all-seeing Ryujin Industries, bringing her an exciting new opportunity. But at what cost?

Evocative, right? I’m genuinely impressed with the anthology in both its fluid direction and ability to communicate the struggles of its citizens without a single word of dialogue. It will be interesting to see whether the protagonists of the shorts will have a presence within the world of Starfield as NPCs or act as tone pieces in and of themselves. Regardless, Bethesda seems intent on delivering players different facets of Starfield as we edge closer to its release on September 6th for Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam.

What else could Starfield show us before its launch space-ward? Stay tuned to RPFan to find out and for all news RPG!
