One of the biggest stories to feature in today’s Nintendo Direct was the announcement of Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance.

Rumors swirled earlier this week that a complete edition had received a rating, but while our own Gio Castillo suspected it would appear in today’s Direct, even he had an admittedly cloudy crystal ball.

Fast forward 48 hours and it would appear those clouds have completely disappeared. Peep the trailer below:

What exactly is Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance? We were asking the same question behind closed doors. It appears that it is indeed intended to be the definitive version of Shin Megami Tensei V. Developer ATLUS’ official website provides the following description:

Embark on this definitive version of the critically acclaimed Shin Megami Tensei V, massively expanded with a brand-new storyline featuring new locations, demons, and choices to make that will dictate the fate of all existence.

The content blitz continued with a special Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance spotlight. Check out the video below.

Here are some excerpts from the video.

In Vengeance, the player is given two choices at the beginning. Canon of Creation is the story told in the original Shin Megami Tensei V. Whereas the second route, Canon of Vengeance, follows the scenario of the original, but with significant changes in the middle and later stages of the story.

With the addition of new quality-of-life elements, the game brings you a smoother and a more in-depth demon experience.

Numerous new quests have been added as well as a new area of Da’at to explore.

Over 40 new demons added, including first time demon Nahobiho. Demons now possess unique skills to expand on their abilities and the strategy elements of battle. Auto battle is also included for increased playability.

There will be a Digital Deluxe Edition available featuring two new DLCs. All previous SMTV DLCs are included as part of the Vengeance edition.
