Did the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase feel a little brief or lacking to you? Well, Japan’s version of the presentation showed a lot more promising titles. Specifically, it featured Reynatis, a “juvenile” action RPG developed by FuRyu and Natsume Atari. It’s coming out in Japan on July 15th for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam.

Reynatis takes place in the heart of Tokyo’s Shibuya district, as the trailer shows. Players can step in the shoes of protagonists Sari and Marin, who battle with one another as the plot develops. Also worth mentioning: Yoko Shimomura, who’s slated to receive a lifetime achievement award at this year’s Game Developers Choice Awards, is listed as the game’s composer on the official website

Overview of Reynatis

A juvenile action RPG set in a realistic Shibuya, Tokyo, where two protagonists in different positions fight for the world they desire.

Story

Sari Nishijima, who desires an orderly world, oversees magicians. The story begins to unfold when these two protagonists from different backgrounds meet…

Gameplay

  • Suppression and Liberation – Switch between “Suppression Mode” and “Liberation Mode” in real-time to perform flashy actions.
  • Exploration – Explore in “Suppression Mode” while concealing your identity. If the fact that you are a magician is revealed, the M.E.A. will immediately rush to the scene.

So far, the game hasn’t been announced for localization, but it could follow several FuRyu titles (Crymachina, The Caligula Effect: Overdose, Trinity Trigger, Monark) that have released in the West.

Reynatis releases July 25th in Japan for Switch, PS5, PS4, and PC via Steam. For more RPG reveals, you’re already on the right track here at RPGFan.
