Team Asano illustrator Rina Yoshiura has treated fans to an original artwork to commemorate Bravely Default II‘s third anniversary. The piece came with a small statement hinting at some exciting developments for the Bravely series this year. Team Asano is also known for HD-2D gems such as the Octopath Traveler series, Live A Live, and Triangle Strategy.

Bravely Default II was released for the Switch exactly three years ago, on February 26th, 2021, followed by a September 2nd PC release via Steam. Players who haven’t tried any of the games in the series can freely jump to BD II since the previous games aren’t direct prequels. Peek at our Switch review, which even comes with a video.
I don’t really want to get my hopes up, but I’d be lying if I said I’m not expecting a new title in the series. Perhaps the survey conducted last year by Square Enix that asked which titles Team Asano should work on next has helped in some way. I think it would also be cool if we get a Switch/PlayStation 5 port of Bravely Default and its sequel Bravely Second since those games are locked to the Nintendo 3DS. Fingers crossed!
