Publisher Nacon and developer Spiders released a new trailer last week for 2024’s GreedFall 2: The Dying World. Titled “Doneigada”, the trailer presents some narrative details and gameplay features that players can expect later this year.

Check it out for yourself below:

GreedFall 2: The Dying World Synopsis

“What are sages?”

In GreedFall II: The Dying World, you play a native from a small lakeside village on Teer Fradee, an island permeated with its own special kind of magic, and with unknown creatures dwelling in the wild. Mev, the high priestess of Teer Fradee, sends you on a mission to perform an initiation ritual to become a Doneigad, a sage entrusted with protecting your people and its lands. This is a crucial task, since for several years your island has suffered increasing colonisation by foreign powers indifferent to their devastating impact on the natural environment.

“Violence should always be the last resort”

To protect your people and succeed in your mission, you have a range of choices according to the situations you encounter, since your decisions will affect how your adventure unfolds. Hence your choices in the dialogues will directly influence your relationships with the other characters, and your reputation with the other factions.  Furthermore, the talents that you opt to develop, such as Survival, Diplomacy or Stealth, affect how you can experience certain events.

However you will sometimes need to use force, and confrontations are an integral part of your adventure. This new trailer introduces some of the game’s combat system mechanics, which are designed to provide a greater strategic dimension, especially thanks to the option of controlling your companions, and a tactical pause system enabling you to keep perfect control of any situation.

GreedFall 2: The Dying World is a follow-up to GreedFall, one of 2019’s big action RPGs. The first game ended up a little under the radar when it came out next to mammoth titles like Red Dead Redemption 2, Divinity: Original Sin II, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of An Elusive Age, though it still sold over a million copies worldwide and received a positive assessment from our own Audra Bowling.

We may be a few short months from GreedFall 2: The Dying World being released on Steam Early Access (scheduled for summer 2024), and the final product will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Looking to catch up with the original? Check your favorite retailer or online store for copies on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X|S, and PC via Steam and GOG.

He discovered the RPGFan community a couple of years ago and, after growing up in Western Canada as a "jock," was thrilled to realize that there were others in the world who learned roman numerals as a teenager thanks to the Final Fantasy series. Contributing to the news team is his main objective at the site and it is his goal to project the confidence of Ron Burgundy while keeping everyone from realizing he might just be Brick Tamland.
