During Tuesday’s Nintendo Direct, it was announced that the Game Boy Advance port of 16-bit classic The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and the multiplayer-based Four Swords are available to play now via the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service (video below). Originally released for the GBA in 2002, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past & Four Swords offers the original SNES classic alongside a cooperative experience for up to four players.

Cut the Cords, Keep the Swords

To fully enjoy the original version of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past & Four Swords for GBA required a cumbersome set-up: four-way link cable to four consoles, each with their own cartridge. Given the technology of the day, this all made perfect sense and wasn’t really considered an issue in contemporary reviews. Now, Switch owners with an expansion-level NSO subscription will be able to easily join friends in a fully online Four Swords experience. You better believe I will be setting up an RPGFan Four Swords tourney.

This Nintendo Direct has RPGFan very excited in an already exciting two-week period. Be sure to check out the front page for all our news and preview coverage for this and all other events in this crazy period of great RPG announcements.

Claton fell in love with the genre whilst watching his childhood friend spam GF summons in FF VIII; thinking "wow these graphics are just like real life. Is this really a game"? He’s been chasing that feeling of awe and wonder ever since. Who knows? Maybe he’ll find it right here with RPGFan. When he’s not writing for RPGFan, you’ll find him nonchalantly leaning against the ballroom wall being the “best looking guy here.” …whatever.
