Ubisoft has announced that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will launch worldwide on March 20th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and macOS via the App Store. This is a month after the original February 14th release date.

First teased as Codename Red at Ubisoft Forward 2022, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the upcoming 14th mainline title in the series. The game set in 16th-century Japan will feature two protagonists: Naoe and Yasuke.

Here’s an excerpt from Ubisoft’s latest strategic update detailing the delay:

Additionally, as part of the renewed focus on gameplay quality and engaging Day-1 experiences, it has been decided to provide an additional month of development to Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This additional time will allow the team to better incorporate the player feedback gathered over the past three months and help create the best conditions for launch by continuing to engage closely with the increasingly positive Assassin’s Creed community. The game is now scheduled for March 20.

And here’s a message from Executive Producer Marc-Alexis Cote:

Dear players,

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to our incredible fans and dedicated teams for your unwavering support since our announcement in September to further refine and polish Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Since November, we’ve been thrilled to share our progress through gameplay overviews, and the overwhelming excitement has truly inspired us. Each week has brought valuable feedback from our community. While we’ve already made remarkable strides, we believe a few additional weeks are needed to implement that feedback and ensure an even more ambitious and engaging day-one experience.

Accordingly, the new release date is March 20, 2025. We remain committed to delivering a high-quality, immersive experience-fostered by ongoing dialogue between our players and development teams.

We know you’re eager to learn more about Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and we’re excited to share that more updates will be coming your way very soon!

This is a bad sign. This means the release date for November was a guess at best. The game was nowhere near done if they have to delay TWICE. This is be the final time I play an AC game. I used to love them. Fight on rooftops. But Ubisoft has fallen hard. And the only thing that made me stick around was the idea of ninja and Yasuke as assassins in JPN, finally. But I hope this is actually a great game. But I didn't like the Norse or Greek AC games. And most of the cast from early AC games are completely gone from the series.
