Ciri has grown a lot under the wing of Geralt. Now, she is taking the reigns in the latest entry of The Witcher series. How is developer CD Projekt RED handling the transition from Geralt to Ciri as the protagonist? Luckily, they are telling us just that in a behind the scenes video for The Witcher IVreveal cinematic from The Game Awards 2024.

The motion capture for this cinematic took 14 days to record and was produced by Platige Image in collaboration with CD Projekt RED. The team used several cameras to get multiple angles with the goal to give the trailer a movie feel. The video shows the motion capture as well as how they created the sequence featuring the gruesome Bauk that Ciri fought.

Unfortunately, we do not know a lot of information at the moment about The Witcher IV. According to the official The Witcher website, the new game is running on Unreal Engine 5 and is poised to be “the most immersive and ambitious open-world Witcher game to date.” After our glowing review of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the next title in the series has a lot to live up to!
