Deseret Games Studio, a new studio based out of Utah, have shared details and a trailer (below) for their debut title Aegis Force: The Scorian War, set for release in 2026.
An expanded demo is now available for those craving a dose of classic strategy RPG gameplay in a modern 2.5D format. Newly updated, it takes player feedback to offer improved visuals and controls, while also packing in some new content. Deseret said it plans to continue iterating on the demo over the coming months as impressions roll in.

To those in the know, Aegis Force: The Scorian War wears its aesthetic and gameplay influences squarely on its sleeve. The developers cite Final Fantasy Tactics and Shining Force II as core inspirations, with the community drawing comparisons to Fire Emblem titles and the lesser-known Langrisser series.
The 2.5D presentation is in my opinion a little too stark at this point, with the crisp and flat pixel sprites moving awkwardly through a fully 3D environment. I am however given hope by the team’s engagement with players and professed commitment to continuous improvement and polish. Aegis Force: The Scorian War is certainly a game for SRPG fans to watch over the coming year.

Scheduled for 2026, Aegis Force: The Scorian War is currently announced for PC via Steam only, with no indication that other platforms are currently under consideration. If this looks like your cup of tea, or you’re just looking to dip your toes into a hot cup of indie SRPG, check out the demo and share your thoughts and critiques with the developers. Come next year, we may have a modern retro classic on our hands.
Until then, RPGFan is always serving up the hottest in S-, J-, C- and every other RPG for your discerning eyes and ears.
