Square Enix has released a new teaser trailer for their upcoming HD-2D RPG Final Fantasy Resonance. The footage focuses on the Warrior of Light (one of the four protagonists of Final Fantasy) and how players might utilise his radiant strength in battle. Check it out below!
Final Fantasy Resonance Warrior of Light Trailer
Players can utilise the Warrior of Light by accessing his Vision in-game to either assist their party with powerful offensive or defensive abilities. In general, Visions act as powerful customisables. When equipped, they dramatically amplify stats of party members and give them access to new abilities. They can be strengthened via a persistent affinity mechanic in battles, and when levelled, party members will gain new abilities and skills to use.
The mainline heroes of past Final Fantasy games are Visions that can be found throughout Final Fantasy Resonance in places called Crystal Sanctums. In previous reporting, Cloud (FFVII), Tidus (FFX), Terra (FFVI), Y’Shtola (FFXIV), and Shantotto (FFXI) were confirmed as Visions in the game, alongside the Warrior of Light.
Final Fantasy Resonance is a full-scale single-player rebuild of the first story arc of Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, a mobile RPG spin-off originally released in 2016. Players take on the role of Rain and Laswell, friends and airship commanders, in the lead-up to and failure to protect their home kingdom, their comrades, and the Crystals that protected it. With a mysterious woman named Fina, they will embark on a world-spanning journey to protect the remaining Crystals from Veritas of the Dark. For a deeper synopsis of key features, check out below:

In the vein of Octopath Traveler 0, I’m stoked to see another mobile RPG, defunct or active, translated into a robust single-player experience from Square Enix’s body of work. Now, if NieR Re[in]carnation could be given such treatment, what a spectacle that might be!
Final Fantasy Resonance will launch on October 22nd for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 1 & 2, and PC via Steam.
