One of the small number of pre-announced item for gamescom 2026 was new footage for Final Fantasy VII: Revelation. Revealed in June, Revelation is the final part of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, and is coming to all current-gen platforms next spring. But you’re here for the trailer, so let’s watch:

Game Director Naoki Yamaguchi came on stage to introduce new footage for Final Fantasy VII Revelation, with some great new looks at the cast, but the game’s famous Weapons are the real focus here, showcasing Emerald Weapon, Ruby Weapon, Ultima Weapon, and just for the heck of it, the Typhon summon. I’m currently replaying Final Fantasy VI, so I always think of Typhon as only being in that game, so I needed a moment to remember he was also in the original FFVII! Back to the Weapons, Square Enix notes that some of them are designed to be “ultra-challenging endgame battles as an homage to their original forms,” so I’d imagine at least Ruby Weapon and Emerald Weapon may again be superbosses as they were in the original Final Fantasy VII.
We also get a look at some new traversal methods with parachutes and grappling hooks, and maybe my favorite moment of the trailer that shows of the FITS system (FFVII Revelation‘s take on traditional FF jobs), Cloud as a Warrior and Tifa as a Black Mage. Hell yes. I’m not sure Warrior is that far from the norm for Cloud, but seeing my favorite FF martial artist as a full-on caster is a fun change of pace, and I look forward to seeing what other unexpected gameplay the FITS system can bring to the whole cast.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation – gamescom Screenshots
Final Fantasy VII Revelation is coming spring 2027 for PS5, Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and EGS. Square Enix will no doubt be showing much more of the game between now and release, and we’ll keep you updated as we learn more! Learn more, wishlist, and so on via the game’s official website.
