The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered & Songs of the Past Shown at gamescom 2026

Today at gamescom, we got brand-new footage for the wow-I-didn’t-expect-DLC-in-2026 for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past, which we knew was going to be showcased during Opening Night Live. What we didn’t know was that ahead of that footage, CD Projekt Red was going to surprise us with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered, coming next month. Let’s watch that trailer for what’s new:

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered Reveal Trailer

It seems like CDPR wanted to revamp a lot of the systems and mechanics in the game since The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt‘s release over 11 years ago. This includes, among other things:

• Updated visuals, including updated textures, new lighting, and new foliage shading
• Enhanced combat and finishers
• Improved movement, including on mounts
• Enhanced monster behaviors
• New quest tracking
• Immersive meditation
• New quest tracking
• UI improvements
• Cross platform mod support
• PS5 Pro support
• Xbox Play Anywhere support
• Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive features
• A revamped skill tree
• Transmogrification
• Improvements to photo mode

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered will be free for owners of the existing game and includes both the Blood and Wine and Hearts of Stone DLCs. In addition, for anyone who owns the base game and not the DLCs, your patience and frugality has been rewarded! Given their inclusion in this free update, Blood and Wine and Hearts of Stone are now free for all players.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered will be available September 29th, 2026 for PS5, Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and EGS.

After Remastered, we finally got a glimpse of Songs of the Past in the teaser above, taking Geralt to the new region of Letten. CDPR describes this area as an idyllic land “rich in rural tradition and folklore, and its people enjoy a fulfilling life of bountiful harvests and lavish festivals.” Now, of course, there’s also a dark secret lurking in Letten in the form of a “long-dormant” evil that Geralt must face. You weren’t expecting our Witcher to get a relaxing vacation, were you?

Finally, CDPR noted that it is working with two other studios for these projects. Fool’s Theory is co-developing the Songs of the Past DLC, and they enlisted Yigsoft to co-develop Remastered.
