Nintendo and Koei Tecmo have revealed Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Definitive Edition for Nintendo Switch 2, launching on February 25th, 2027. The announcement came during the latest Nintendo Direct, with a short trailer showcasing new features amid horde-battling action. Check it out below!
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Definitive Edition Trailer
As shown above, the Definitive Edition will include enhanced resolution, increased frame rate, and all prior DLC released, including its Expansion Pass. Notably, a new Calamity difficulty mode has also been added where players will face a greater number of stronger enemies per stage, with healing items significantly reduced.
Nintendo has also confirmed an upgrade path for owners of the original. Players who own Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will be entitled to a discount for the Definitive Edition via the Nintendo eShop. Save data will also transfer between versions.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity brings players to a timeline-spanning story detailing how Ganon almost destroyed the world a century prior to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Players will take control of a wide roster of heroes, ranging from Link, the Four Champions, Zelda, and more, as they carve a path through horde-filled stages in frenetic real-time combat. Each hero boasts unique skills and mechanics that players can use to great effect, gaining experience and items to level their abilities and items in a near-infinite loop.

It’s always heartening to see the musou genre continually thriving with several spin-offs across various IP. Sometimes, all that a gameplay loop needs is a roster of playable heroes, a field of enemies to vanquish, and a will to see it through. And the Zelda universe has that in spades!
