Breath of MANA ~ Seiken Densetsu 4

Review by · February 15, 2007

Prior to the release of the massive Seiken Densetsu 4 (Dawn of Mana) OST, there was a small promotional CD released alongside the PS2 game. It provided five songs from the game, all which are Kenji Ito’s work. In my opinion, his work is what made the OST great, so this showcases the OST’s strength.

Three out of five songs are not featured in the OST, which is quite a shame for OST owners. “Breath of MANA,” “Unforgotten Memories,” and “Rising Sun (piano ver.)” are all very nice songs. Each of them has a gentle melody with good use of orchestra and piano. They are great examples of the game’s gentle style. “Prologue ~Mana, Earth and Soul” and “Burning Spirits” are great songs that are included in the OST.

Every song on this promo is superb, and it’s a disappointment that three songs didn’t make the cut. If you managed to get your hands on this promotional CD, great, otherwise get the SD4 OST to listen to more of Ito’s works, and others. It has 106 songs, and it’s not expensive!
