Chihiro Yonekura – FEEL ME

Review by · January 30, 2008

Let me tell you all about one of my all-time favorite J-pop songs. It’s Chihiro Yonekura‘s “FEEL ME,” and it was released as the opening theme song for Data East’s love adventure Revive… for Sega Dreamcast. Back when I had just started writing for RPGFan, and I was in charge of our now-defunct “movies” section, we had the opening video for Revive, which of course featured this song. I was hooked. And it took me eight years to find a copy of this single. Now that I have it, I am so very happy!

Chihiro Yonekura is a pretty well-known Japanese vocalist. She’s still cranking out tunes for games and anime, as a matter of fact. Her voice lends itself so well to opening and ending themes, as is apparent in this single. Not only is “FEEL ME” the Revive opening theme, but “Truth” is the ending theme, so it’s a double-hitter. Both of these songs are excellent, but I am more inclined to say that “FEEL ME” is the better song. It’s just a great song, with incredible production and mixing. The instruments are great, Yonekura’s voice is great…the whole thing is fantastic.

I rarely endorse the purchasing of singles, usually because the theme song is found on the game’s OST. But “FEEL ME” and “Truth” are not on the Revive OST, and they are both excellent songs, making this single a great choice for collectors.
