Fable II Original Soundtrack

Review by · November 24, 2008

Fable II’s soundtrack is one that I figured would just be background music like most open world games of its type, and I was right for the most part. That said, the opening theme to Fable II instantly grabbed me and became one of my favorite theme songs in an RPG. It helps that the opening theme is composed by the famous Danny Elfman, whom all of you should know from his work on the original Batman movie and many other films and TV shows.

Most of the soundtrack, composed by Russell Shaw, is mere “background music” though. They are still good songs, and fit the style and themes of the game very well, but that’s really all you can say about the soundtrack. The only song that really grabbed me was the theme song. If you like somber, relaxing background music than you will like the soundtrack, but I needed more. It all sounded very familiar. You can try some of the samples to see if it’s your style, but I think the only song worthy of recognition is the theme song.
