Langrisser: Descendants of Brilliant Light

Review by · August 22, 2002

Well, this was one lucky find for me. This CD is one of three Langrisser CDs I know of that Iwadare doesn’t list on his personal site, because he didn’t work on them, his music was only used for them (the other two are the Langrisser III Song Album and a Langrisser V drama CD). This CD is like a Lunar: Lunatic Fiesta/Parade; vocals, drama, and arranged instrumentals scattered throughout.

The first track is a little 9-second warning track saying that this is a music CD, not a game CD. The even tracks up through track 12 are either vocals or arranged tracks, the odd tracks are drama. Tracks 12~19 are all arranged, track 20 is drama, track 21 is the same vocal as track 10 but sung by another person, and then track 22 is a bonus drama track. The CD comprises of 60 minutes of all this stuff, and about 20 of it is drama, so the rest is all music. There are four vocal tracks (2, 6, 10, 21), and they’re pretty cheesy, but I REALLY like the overall feel for track 10/21, it’s a great song.

The instrumentals I sampled are my absolute favorites…track 4 is an AMAZING track, the others are all great too. Much better than any OST that would be released. It’s a shame I can’t credit the arrangements to Iwadare, but I can credit the original music to him and MAN this is good original music! Hehe…I’m an Iwadare fanboy.

So, you want to hunt this soundtrack down? You know the drill: eBay, Y!J, that sort of thing. Enjoy the samples to this highly obscure Langrisser I soundtrack!
