Leaf Vocal Collection Vol.1

“I absolutely love in-game vocals. Actually, let me state that more correctly; I absolutely love GOOD in-game vocals. It just so happens that “”Leaf”” makes it a habit of producing great vocal songs for their games, and Leaf Vocal Collection is a compilation of some of their best. I was first introduced to the company’s music with To Heart’s PSX soundtrack, and had immediately become enamored with its music. Growing to love that CD, I took a small chance with Leaf Vocal Collection; aside from the To Heart vocals on its OST, I’d never heard any music from the company’s other games. This CD, however, was a chance for me to sample some of the others the company had to offer.

I hope the fact that these songs belong to dating sims wouldn’t deter a listener from giving them a try, because he’d be missing out on some truly rewarding music. I’ve heard a lot of the genre’s vocals, and I have to admit that Leaf’s games are probably the best. Although I cannot say that the strength of these songs are in the performances, the melodies, on the other hand, are extremely catchy, the music upbeat and fun, and the vocals energetic. Notables include the very pretty “”Powder Snow,”” the eighties-sounding “”Love Sick,”” and emotional “”To a Thousand Tomorrows.””

There’s not too much more to say about this album except that if you enjoy vocals, especially J-Pop, I think you’ll like this album. I would recommend taking a listen to the samples first, however. I believe it’s still available through Otaku for the relatively low price of $26.
