Record of Agarest War Original Soundtrack CD

Review by · June 17, 2010

I’ll keep this short and sweet.

Aksys Games localized an Idea Factory / Compile Heart title that was developed 3 years ago. The game had a two disc soundtrack. When they released the game on Xbox 360 they included a one disc “best of” soundtrack.

They did a good job picking the tracks. I liked this soundtrack, generally, for its musical merit (though, within the context of the game it got a little irritating). But there’s something special about this soundtrack that you won’t find on the Japanese import CDs.

Track 26, “Xxxplosion,” is the music they used for their marketing campaign. It’s an over-the-top, tongue-in-cheek “porn groove” track. Everything you’d expect from porn music is in this track. Aksys found this track on a copyright-free server (essentially the “shareware” of music). And they put it on this soundtrack. No one knows who wrote it originally.

But it’s hilarious and is certainly a worthwhile bonus track.

Anyone who wants this CD needs to try and get their hands on the Xbox 360 exclusive “Really Naughty Limited Edition” for Agarest War. You’ll also get a mousepad and a pillow case.
