NOTE: This review is extremely similar to the review of Legend of Heroes III: The White Witch JDK Special Vol. 1.
JDK Specials are normally nothing more than synth arrangements of original tracks, retaining the same exact music, with new synth voices and sometimes new rhythm tracks. Of all the JDK Specials that exist, the Legend of Heroes III JDK Specials are the worst.
JDK Special Vol. 2 takes all of the tracks from disc 2 of the LoH III OST (with exception to the OST’s “JDK Band” tracks, which would’ve made more sense to be put on a JDK Special CD…grrrr…) and does the JDK Special arrangement. Though I do not have the OST to compare it to, I must say that the music is bland. Very bland. I don’t find myself enjoying this CD very much at all.
However, if you had to choose between this CD and say, a very old “Music From…” Falcom CD, I would probably choose this CD. I would also like to point out that the track names to the CD are better than most Falcom track names (in my opinion) and I commend Falcom for putting the sheet music for “Lost Forest” in the packaging of this CD. However, it is mediocre to the point of boredom, and if I could find someone to sell it to I would. This CD can still be purchased at Game Music Online for $27.
Also, in comparison to Vol. 1, this one has a LOT of better tracks. All of the tracks I sampled here were the tracks I thought were really good…Vol. 1 doesn’t have any tracks on the same level as these. Nonetheless, all the other tracks are boring or annoying filler tracks.
