Running in a similar vein as Final Fantasy X-2 and Tales of Destiny 2, LoH VI “SC” (Second Chapter) continues as a direct sequel to LoH VI. Its vocal theme, “Gin no Ishi Kin no Tsubasa” (Silver Will, Golden Wings) is an arranged vocal version of a popular theme originally written for the First Chapter, which was originally just entitled “Silver Will.” The added vocals, as well as some new phrases of melody and harmony, combine for a sound that is familiar but new.
I much prefer this arranged opening theme to the original ending theme, “I swear…”, which is performed by a newcomer to the Falcom vocal roster. Bits of English are scattered throughout the mostly-Japanese lyrics, but the overall effect is a song that reeks of unoriginal ballads. Again, the opening theme is much better.
Karaoke versions of the songs are included, as is a shortened in-game version of the opening. Coming to nearly 30 minutes, this maxi single isn’t a half-bad deal; if you can get your hands on it. Falcom albums have recently become obscure again, as VGMworld has not been stocking them, so orders directly through Falcom (or Amazon Japan) are your only hope. If you’re going to get this album, you’ll probably need to get it used, as it was a preorder bonus with the limited edition of the game.
