To Heart – Feeling Heart

Review by · October 6, 2001

This single contains the full version of the opening and ending themes from from the PSX game. Considering how good these songs are, it’s great to finally hear the entire songs as they were meant to be heard. “Feeling Heart” is longer than the game OST version, and has a slightly fuller sound to it. However, the ending theme from the PSX game is exactly same, and is still wonderful to listen to. Karaoke versions for both are included as well. These are neat if you love to sing. But, of course, Nakatsukasa steals the show in this single.

Masami Nakatsukasa really is a talented vocalist. Fortunately, her voice is much more pleasant than most game/anime vocalists whose voices sound too much like high-pitched cartoon charicatures of the songs’ heroines. I find their singing to be an annoyance. Nakatsukasa has much more to her voice, however; she sings with a lot of emotion and conviction. This is especially evident in “To a Thousand Tomorrows.”

As a stand alone, To Heart – Feling Heart should appeal to most listeners. Those who enjoy good J-pop will find the most merit in it, but it’s definitely worth a listen for everyone else, as well. If you already have the game OST, though, there’s not a lot of reason to pick this up. You can find it at most online Japanese import stores. I bought mine at CD Japan for a little less than $10.
