Tokimeki Memorial Online Theme Song – Door to the Heart

Review by · September 13, 2006

After Tokimemo 1, 2, 3, and “Girl’s Side” (where you can try to date various young men), Konami released Tokimeki Memorial Online. “Door to the Heart,” or “Kokoro no Tobira” when left untranslated, is the opening theme song for the Japanese online dating sim RPG.

The single features vocals from the vocalists who perform the ending themes for each side, Yuki Makishima and Ryohei Nakao. They perform a duet for the opening track; Konami also includes their solo parts, and finally an instrumental. This way, regardless of your gender, you have a karaoke version with which to sing along. And, should you be prepared for the duet, the completely instrumental version would allow you that as well. Sounds like an Otaku party to me.

The song itself is the sort of peppy, poppy, happy music that Tokimeki fans have come to know and love over the years. I like the concept of having a duet piece for the online game, and I also enjoyed the song. It’s only mildly impressive, but if this is the sort of thing you like, you ought to check out the single. And if you know Japanese, you should try out the game as well for a very unique, non-Western experience.
