True Love Story Vocal Collection Vol.2 Ballade & Duet

Review by · May 23, 2009

The first volume of this trilogy of vocal albums featured two characters: Ayane and Midori. Volume 3 is just Midori. But Volume 2 has representation from almost the entire cast of female characters in the original True Love Story. So if you want diversity, this is the album from the trilogy you’d want.

But, then again, diversity doesn’t guarantee goodness.

I’m not sure if I’d declare this one my favorite of the three original vocal albums from “True Love Story ~Remember My Heart~.” It’s a difficult decision, really. But I will say this: the instrumental and vocal performances on every track is stellar. It tops Tokimeki, and it certainly tops most character vocal albums from RPGs (see: Growlanser IV and V). All three albums are good. This particular album, I can’t think of much to say. I’ve listened to it a few times, and it’s certainly good. I just have no attachment to the True Love Story series, and since Iwadare himself didn’t contribute to these vocal albums, I have nothing to which I can relate.

But the music is good. I can’t emphasize that enough. I was truly surprised by the quality of these songs. That’s all the more I’ll say about it.
