Valkyrie Profile Arrange Album

Review by · November 10, 2000

Readers of my Valkyrie Profile OST review surely know that I hold its music in the highest possible regard. Motoi Sakuraba’s compositions in Valkyrie Profile are nothing short of pure musical genius, and he does justice to them perfectly in the Valkyrie Profile Arrange Album.

Like Sakuraba’s previous work in the Star Ocean: The Second Story Arrange Album, Valkyrie Profile’s Arrange Album contains 12 excellently remixed tracks that mainly fall into two genres. The upbeat battle and dungeon themes from the game have a distinct techno synth flavor to them and dominate the album, while songs such as Valhalla and the ending theme, Like Becoming Accustomed to Happiness, are done with a more classical and orchestrated feel. The tracks are looped quite sufficiently, each being around five minutes in length.

As with the OST, Valkyrie Profile Arrange Album does not fall short of musical nirvana. If you’re a fan of Valkyrie Profile OST, or if you’re even just a fan of great game music, do yourself a favor and pick up this album. It’s available at several online stores, such as Anime Nation for quite reasonable prices.
