It took me awhile to get over how much I didn’t like this promotional album (released with the PC title Xanadu NEXT as a bonus) so that I could write this review.
Every time I sat down to write it, I remembered, “oh wait, it sucked.” Oh God, did it suck.
The only good songs on this album come from Falcom Special Box ’94. You know, the “Super Arrange Version” tracks. Those are great. And if, for some reason, you can’t get Special Box ’94 but somehow can get this bonus soundtrack, then it might be worth owning. In my mind, it’s a case of “well this is really great, but damn, I have to get stuck with all this other crap too!”
Other than the FSB ’94 stuff, it’s a big NO. No no no. No one needs three arrangements of La Valse Pour Xanadu. Even with the original music from Xanadu NEXT, it isn’t worthwhile. The ending vocal song is unique, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it.
That goes for the whole promotional piece-of-crap disc, not just that last vocal piece. Get Special Box ’94 instead.
