Emet-Selch and Final Fantasy XIV Win Big in Niconico Popularity Contest

Emet-Selch has unofficially been named Japan’s favourite Final Fantasy character following a popularity poll run by Niconico, a Japanese video-sharing site.

The poll, which had a total sample size of 11,169, also asked voters to select their favourite mainline entry and soundtrack from the Final Fantasy series.

Congratulations to Emet-Selch, Final Fantasy XIV, and Final Fantasy X, all of whom took wins in the categories mentioned. You can find the full rankings below:

I’m a little upset “Bombing Mission” didn’t make it into the top ten, but these are still all absolute bangers!

While it may be completely unofficial, it’s really interesting to see where the Japanese population ranks certain games, characters, and songs from the Final Fantasy series. Even if my personal favourite, FFVII, didn’t come out on top in any of the categories, it still did relatively well, so I’m happy!
