Disney has announced that a retrospective panel for the Kingdom Hearts series will be hosted at D23 today, August 15th, their biennial fan convention. Titled “A Deep Dive into Kingdom Hearts,” the panel will also be livestreamed at 4:30 PM PT/7:30 PM ET via the series’ official YouTube channel. Notably, interested fans will want to watch the livestream as it airs, as Disney has confirmed that there will be no VOD (video on demand) afterwards.

The panel will showcase a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the games with panel members Nana Gadd (Disney and Pixar Games), Tai Yasue (developer at Square Enix Games), Haley Joel Osment (the voice of Sora), David Gallagher (the voice of Riku), and Renée Johnson (creative director of Disney Character Voices).
This panel and event coincides with the 25th anniversary of the series, ranging across thirteen released games from Kingdom Hearts (2002) to Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory (2020). It is unknown whether any new information on Kingdom Hearts IV will be revealed beyond its surprise trailer earlier this year, but it seems like a good time for it.

Beyond being a billion-dollar franchise, the regard for Kingdom Hearts remains strong at Square Enix and Disney alongside its fans both old and new. As someone who has been an avid fan for the last seventeen years, I’m deeply curious to see where its story continues beyond this anniversary and the latter half of this decade.
Kingdom Hearts IV will release for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store. No release date has been confirmed.
